Hail Damage

When it comes to hail and storm damage in Texas, it’s more than what meets the eye. What many insurance companies see as “cosmetic damages” can potentially be serious roof damage that leads to expensive problems. It’s extremely critical to have a professional claims adjuster inspect for hail and other weather related roof and structural damage that your maintenance person may have overlooked.

Lightning

When lightning strikes a property it causes a plethora of problems, which can include: physical damage to the structure, electrical system, equipment, electronics, phone systems, and appliances. One of the most important aspects of investigating lighting insurance claims in Texas is determining the exact location of where the lightning strike happened on the property. Some Texas property insurance policies will deny the claim if the lightning bolt did not strike “on-site.” Depending on the policy and what endorsements are included, this type of lightning strike damage claim may or may not be paid. The location of the lightning strike is a crucial factor in lightning insurance claims, and therefore it is important to hire a professional public adjuster to investigate the property damage properly.

Water Damage

It’s important to stop any type of water flow or leak as soon as possible. Remove pools of water and start drying the area to prevent additional damage. If you can’t remove the water and dry the area quickly, consider calling a water extraction company. Keep receipts from the clean up and give them to your insurance company. The insurance company might pay you back. Move wet items to a dry room or area with lots of fresh air. Pull up wet carpeting and rugs as soon as possible. If you move items outside, put them in a secure area to protect them from theft.

Ice Damage

An Ice Dam is an accumulation of ice at the lower edge of a sloped roof, usually at the gutter. When interior heat melts the snow on the roof, the water will run down and refreeze at the roof's edge, where temperatures are much cooler. Eventually, the ice builds up and blocks water from draining off of the roof. This, in turn, forces the water under the roof covering and into your attic or down the inside walls of your house. Once an ice dam forms, the potential damage can be serious. Take steps early to avoid trouble later.
